Your dog stays home alone for that short time. No matter what might happen on your short shopping trip, if you are suddenly unable to return home, your loyal four-legged friend waits alone at home. And eventually, water and food will run out. Let's go a step further: if you are unconscious after an accident and therefore cannot tell anyone that you have a dog at home, this can have unpleasant consequences for your dog. Before a relative or friend can take care of your dog on their own initiative, it may be too late.

We designed the SABRO Emergency Card specifically in a practical business card or bank card size so that it fits into one of the compartments of your wallet. But your jacket pocket or the glove compartment in your car are also good places to keep it. Ideally, you should use several emergency cards and store them in different places. Feel free to share the tip with dog-owning friends. In an emergency, the emergency card can save lives. Because better safe than sorry! In the event of an accident where you are no longer responsive, police or first responders typically search your wallet for identification first and will therefore also find your emergency card for dog owners. This way, your dog will be quickly cared for.

In addition to the front, which explains what the emergency card is all about, you will find various fields to fill in on the back. Think carefully beforehand about who you want to designate as a dog caregiver. Your dog should know the person well and have already built trust with them. So it's no use if the person is afraid of dogs or is barked away by your dog. The caregiver themselves is entered with their name and mobile number or landline number. In our experience, a mobile number in particular allows the person to be reached quickly, as they can be reached independently of a landline. So, if possible, enter a mobile number. Now enter your name and your own address. Of course, your emergency contact knows your address. But if the person cannot be reached, the address provides additional security, as the care of your dog can then be initiated by the authorities or an animal welfare organization.
